“Walking Miracle, Making Miracles"

- Pastor Evans, Itare, Kenya.

In the rural village of Itare, Pastor Evans serves a vibrant congregation of village locals and nearby farming families. He dreams of caring for vulnerable orphans and nurturing his church’s joy and love of worship.

One year ago, a car accident severely injured Pastor Evans. As he fought for his life, he reached out to God and promised to spend the rest of his life serving, helping people, and sharing the Word of the Lord. His heart stopped, but God spared him, and he was reborn into ministry.

Now he needs support to continue this divine work. His church worships on plastic lawn chairs in the forest, without a building or roof, and cannot have service when the weather is poor. Church members give as much as they can, especially to help support the orphanage, but most do not have much!

HIV still ravages Kenya, without any medical treatment available. Once contracted, it kills both parents in a typical family quickly, and leaves all their children orphaned and vulnerable.

Pastor Evans and his wife Deborah currently care for twenty children but desperately need support for provisions and a home for them. The roof of their building is leaking, and they share each bed between several children at night. They also need continuing support for food, clothing, and school fees.

Ogembo is a small farming town in Kisii County, Kenya. Her inhabitants are of the Abagusii community though most of the region is very poor, people are resilient. The town started around 1860 by the locals and around 1920s it became a commercial centre for the Indians and a government centre for the colonial rule in the area. The surrounding area is well known for banana farming and tea farming. Ogembo is located 380 km west of Nairobi and has a population of about 20,000.

CANI partners in Ogembo with Pastor Evans and his church to assist people. Volunteers commute from house to house assisting families, especially children with food and water.

A recent missions trip to Kenya (March 2023) we had the unique opportunity to see Pastor Evans and his various ministries. A special report on that missions trip is HERE.
